Just another month and a half to go...

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 21, 2008, 6:38 PM
I have a huge test on Tuesday in Advanced Anatomy 366. This is going to be a grueling test because we have to memorize over four hundred different structures from the muscular, nervous, and sensory systems. Unfortunately, we were given new material right up until Thursday.

Because of this, I have been gone without sleep since Wednesday night going over this material. It is getting to the point where it is becoming difficult for me to type because I am struggling to stay awake, and I am starting to experience hallucinations as a result of waking dreams. If I did LSD or tripped on 'shrooms (Which I never have.) It would probably be very similar to what I am experiencing now only my eyes burn and I have a headache.

Reflections on a few things...

The semester is now past the halfway point. I will be glad when it is over since my Combined Media instructor is driving me insane with her idiotic requirements on her projects. It is getting to the point to where I have to restrain myself from strangling her on first sight. I digress.

I just got the Masters of Reality album, "Deep In the Hole" in the mail today. I have been waiting for it for quite some time. The Masters of Reality are one of those bands that seem to get better with every listening as their particular brand of stoner rock/psychadelia is highly addictive. Unfortunately, all of their albums are now out of print, but they have recently been reissued by the band itself and can be ordered from their website. I highly recommend them to anybody reading this entry.

There should be some more Treoxx material on the way...the laracels and land-hooks should be next, as I just have to scan them in. I might attempt to actually draw a Series 35 soon, but that is going to be a major accomplishment as they are composed of many complicated shapes. However, this means that I would be one step closer to completing my Treoxx summary but I am still a long way off as the Treoxx are composed of roughly 35,000 bioids and 400 abioids.

I am going to see the documentary, "Sicko" this weekend as I have heard many good reviews about it. The documentary is directed by Michael Moore and it is about all of the wonderful ways in which our insurance companies squirm out of their contracts and avoid paying for any procedure whenever possible. Whether it comes to paying for only one out of two severed fingers to be reattached or dropping coverage on people after requiring them to take a genetic test, your insurance company is certainly not your friend.

Oh, and here is the thought for the day...

Many mythological creatures have more than one head. What if there was some sort of mythological accident and a creature was created with two heads, one sentient and one not...but its sentient head was on its ass while its non-sentient head was the one that it ate with? I know it would be silly, but I burst out laughing imagining the indignities that head on the ass-end would have to suffer as the creature deficated after eating as the sentient head's mouth would serve as the anus of the creature.

Triumph

I got the results back for my portfolio review in the art department today. I was accepted. I was really shitting bricks over this as the art department at my school has a set policy of only accepting thirty percent of those who apply as they have limited class sections available for people to enroll in.
In other news, I have been eagerly following the fan translation project of Mother 3 or Earthbound 2 into English. Nintendo in its infinite wisdom decided to turn its back on all of the diehard fans that have been eagerly awaiting a true sequel to Earthbound since the one released on the old Super Nintendo System over a decade ago. Fed up with the maltreatment, some of the people over at Starmen.net have begun conducting a painstaking translation of the Mother 3 Gameboy Advance game into english to use as a patch on a rom. They have been working on it since 2006, and they are around three quarters of the way finished. I hope that Nintendo does not send them a "Cease and Desist" order for their efforts.
Despite the screaming and protesting from my parents about the matter, I got a vasectomy last week. I do not like children, never did, and I have never wanted children of my own. I have been wanting to get one for quite some time, but finding a physician that would do it on a 24 year-old with no children has proven to be difficult. It is amazing how pronatalist people are sometimes. My mother and father have been really harassing me this year about my lack of inclination to have a girlfriend and get married, as they feel that I am being "irresponsible" and that marriage is the true mark of maturity. They also wanted grandchildren which is something that I felt no inclination to give them.
Marriage as an institution is seriously flawed and obsolete. Marriage was never about "love" it started out as a political alliance between to families for the transfer of land, property, children, or status. The idea of marriage for love did not become a concept until the early twentieth century. However, people live much longer now than they did when the tradition of marriage was instituted. Before modern medicine, people were lucky if they made it to their late 20's or early 30's. Since most marriages took place in the mid-teenage years, this means that people were married for an average of fifteen or twenty years. Now, since people usually live until their late seventies or early eighties, a married couple has that much longer to get sick of each other. With over half of marriages ending in divorce it would seem that marriage is on its way out.
There is also the fact that as a species, humans could not really be said to be monogamus by nature. Few animals are. Romantic relationships since the dawn of human civilization have been rife with infidelity for both parties involved. Human males seem to be instinctually driven to spread their genes with as many partners as possible in order for their genes to maximize their success. Human females optimize their situation by seeking a male in high status to gain the benefits that it brings while mating with a physically superior male in order to improve the quality of the offspring that she produces. Our closest genetic relatives, chimpanzees demonstrate this behavior well, and based on the sociobiological evidence, this has carried over into the human species. While this is not to say that humans cannot choose monogamy, historical evidence proves that this is very difficult for many people to do. This is not to say that I am advocating promiscuity, as the risk of unwanted pregnancies exist, as well as the fact that the probabilty of catching an incurable STD such as herpes simplex is at an all time high. I digress.
Anyway, I will never be a breeder so I never have to worry about getting slapped by a court order for child support payments in the future. This also means that I will not have a potential child that will turn out to be a complete fuck-up despite everybody's best efforts. I relish being a genetic collector's item as their are never going to be any future genotypes based on me in the future, now.

Okay, I have joined deviantART at the end of December last year, but I have not put up a lot of my stuff. Things have been really hectic at school lately because I have three tests in the same week and it is not even the mid-term yet. I also have to go through a portfolio examination this week, and you only get two chances to apply. I hope that my first attempt is successful. I hate having two majors sometimes.

In other news, I will be posting pictures of the laracel and land-hook soon. The laracel is a small, flying creature that has a frugivorus diet and is highly intelligent. One notable feature about laracels is that they have transparent skin like you see in some Terran animals such as the "glass catfish" and the "glass bottom" frog.

Land-hooks are small, soft-bodied animals that extend spines out of various pores on their bodies. They are predatory by nature, as they travel in groups. Their main method of hunting is to drop from the forest canopy and land on animals below. They use their spines to hook themselves into the flesh of their prey and gouge out shreds of flesh from the animal with their backwards pointing teeth.
